Arguably, if the shape has a more or less branching structure, it is at least very effective to design a skeleton, but how do you go from the skeleton to the shape?

This research is about an effective method - SQM (Skeleton to Quad-dominant Mesh) - for creating polar meshes directly from skeletal structures - that come with a stripe parametrization.
