Subversive: Installation

On this page, you find some brief instructions on how to install an SVN client to your Eclipse: Subversive. Note that these instructions refer do not refer to a secific version of Eclipse; you might need to look for the right update site of your version of Eclipse. The instructions are based on the Juno version (4.2) of Eclipse.

Note that on newer versions of Eclipse (Luna or higher), you will be able to install Subversive by just draging the "Install" Icon from the Subversive Home page to the workspace of your running version of Eclipse.

In case this does not work, here are the steps for installing the "Subversive SVN Team provider" and the SVN connectors explicitly:

  • The "Subversive SVN Team provider" can be installed from the download site of your version of Eclipse ("Subvers" as a filter would do). Note that you also might want to install some of the optional SVN features.

  • After installing subversive and restarting Eclipse, the first time you use SVN, an Install Connectors dialog will pop up. In this dialog, select a version of the "SVN Kit" which works for SVN version 1.6.x (right now the newest available version for that is 1.3.8) and finish the installation process.

  • It is recommended that you enforce this dialog right after you installed subversive and restarted it by selecting the SVN Repository Exploring perspective by "Window -> Open Perspective -> Other... -> SVN Repository Exploring".
